The Korean Tourism Organization have started an interesting new initiative this year, creating the K-Performance Supporters program. Essentially, this group of people will be given access to performances and events throughout South Korea, and in exchange will have to blog about, review, and promote these events through social media. Naturally, since that is what this site has been doing since I arrived in South Korea, I signed up and was put into the program.
Last night was the first event for these “K-Supporters”, which was an opening ceremonies for both the K-Performance Supporters program, and the R16 Goodwilll Ambassador Orientation. This year, Park Jaebeom, otherwise known as Jay Park, will be taking the position as the Goodwill Ambassador for the R16 event. As a well known Korean-American B-Boy and singer, this position should come naturally to him, promoting the world championships of breakdancing as he has been in the years before unofficially.
After the presentation to Jay Park, the K-Performance Supporters were introduced to the media. The program was explained to the press as a collection of the supporters gathered in the front. Group pictures were taken, and then we were given a performance from a great group that performed in both English and Korean.
Over the next year, the K-Performance Supporters will be making their way around Seoul and Korea, getting to experience the different performances and events. As a member of this program, A Blog Abroad will be sharing reviews of all these events, so continue to watch out for them!
