Book Pimping: Talking About Fungus
Cronyism is alive and well, my friends!
Since this week is World Pride Week, and this weekend is when the party goes wild downtown Toronto, I thought I would take the opportunity to share one of my favourite authors with all of you, who happens to be one of my very good friends dating back to my time in Japan days!
T.J Baer is a very dear friend of mine, and is also a freelance writer. However, she is much more successful at the whole “getting things published” thing, because I just write on my website, while she has books published.
TJ Baer’s first book is Talking About Fungus. I’m just going to lift the back cover for people to read here to get the summary:
Jamie knows by now that breaking up with a guy is not the end of the world. After taking a few deep breaths and giving a pair of his ex’s underwear to the cat to shred, he’s prepared to forget all about ole What’s-His-Name and get his life back in order.
But then his little sister barges in for a visit, his homophobic dad shows up after two years of stony silence, and to make matters worse, his best friend seems to be falling in love with him.
Just when Jamie’s fantasizing about running off to a monastery and joining up, he meets Mr. Right in a hospital waiting room thanks to the matchmaking powers of the Great Bard. Abe is unlike anyone Jamie’s ever met, let alone dated, and things finally seem to be looking up.
A phone call changes all that, though, and Jamie finds himself flying home with his sister and his best friend for a bedside vigil. Will Jamie make peace with his family before it’s too late? Will Abe forgive him for missing their second date without even a phone call?
I love my friend’s work, but in case you’re worried that I’m blinded by friendship, you can check the reviews and see that the book has been decently reviewed, as well have her other books.
Does the book have a weird title? Yes.
Am I going to tell you WHY it has this weird title? No. Read the book.
It also has an incredibly cute cover upgrade. If this cover gets printed, I’d be VERY happy.
Where ever you happen to be on the LGBTTIQQ2SA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Two Spirited, or Allies – That’s a ridiculous abbreviation) spectrum, you’ll find something to enjoy in this incredibly sweet gay romance novel. As well, you’ll be supporting a friend of mine, which is awesome. Supporting up and coming authors is good, so you should do it.
So things you should probably do:
- Give her official Facebook page a like (I bet if you all followed her site, it would totally make her day.)
- Follow her on Twitter at @tjbaerwrites
- Use the link below to buy the incredibly reasonably priced novel. (Using the link below means you’re also supporting ME, so DO IT)
